Our working relationship with Bury is relatively new as our first framework with the council only began in 2020. Nevertheless, we have since almost completed a number of major schemes including Jubilee Way, Heywood Old Road and St Margaret’s Road.
This framework follows a similar procedure to the Stockport Minor Civils framework, meaning as the principle contractor, following planning and negotiation meetings, we are directly awarded the works.
Also similarly to that of the Stockport Framework, we go above and beyond the contractual obligations to ensure that each and every scheme is delivered to the highest quality and sustainability whilst maintaining the best value for money. Through Early Contractor Involvement, we provide critical insight to improve the design, planning and coordination of any particular scheme. Early collaboration on a project means foreseeable problems can be resolved before they have the potential to cause programming or financial concerns. For example: We were able to take their initial design drawing and build up a full itemised bill of quantities, based on framework rates fully costed with various options based on methodology and restricted working. This allowing the client to choose the most economically advantageous option for the delivery of the works. This included agreement as to were to suspend the works to minimise disruption for the key Christmas shopping period.
The type of works this framework encompasses are wide-ranging, from simple drainage to complex junction realignment and major surfacing works. They vary in value from £1,000 up to £2m.
The nature of the framework agreement provides a consistent workflow for us, which we pass down to our local supply chain. Thus, creating a streamline of processes and protocols which results in cost savings, more efficient practices, and better value schemes for the Council.
