Work is due to start on a new active travel road scheme which will provide safer and more accessible junctions and journeys in the Altrincham and Sale areas of Trafford.
Working with Trafford Council and Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), we are delivering much-needed safety improvements to two junctions along the A56 at Sinderland Road and Barrington Road.
Works on the scheme area due to start in early August with completion by mid-October.
The improvements will include new signal-controlled pedestrian crossings at all arms of both junctions to increase safety for pedestrians crossing the busy roads. These crossings are designed to be accessible for various users, including those with visual or mobility impairments.
These vital upgrades are being carried out as part of the Sale West to Altrincham Network Improvements programme (SWANI) which is designed to make it easier and more attractive for passengers to use the bus between Sale West and North Altrincham by improving traffic signals, adding pedestrian crossings, and upgrading bus stops.
